OUR MISSION
ROOTED IN PURPOSE

East Atlanta Clay is a community ceramics studio dedicated to creativity, connection, and care. Our mission is to make the ceramic arts accessible to people of color, working artists, and young makers through flexible programming, affordable memberships, and community-driven education.
We believe in fostering play, creativity, and belonging through clay. Our studio is designed to be both joyful and exploratory — a place where artists of all levels can learn, experiment, and grow in their practice. With experienced instructors, a well-equipped space, and a supportive community, we are committed to creating an environment where curiosity leads, mistakes are welcomed, and creativity thrives.
Pottery is deeply rooted in Indigenous and ancestral traditions around the world, a practice that has connected people to earth, time, and one another for tens of thousands of years. Yet, despite these origins, modern ceramics studios often exclude the very communities that shaped the art form. East Atlanta Clay seeks to change that by building a thriving, intergenerational, and inclusive community of makers of color, queer artists, and young creators — a space where everyone feels seen, supported, and connected through the shared language of clay.
Through East Atlanta Clay For The People, our nonprofit arm, we extend this mission with artist residencies, scholarships, and youth programs that nurture emerging artists and strengthen creative networks across Atlanta and beyond.
At East Atlanta Clay, we believe making is communal, creativity is care, and clay belongs to everyone.
